Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Álor deshe avasheśe
Calchi priya tomár krpáy
Avaheláy prahar geche
Vachar geche bhulini táy

Anádi asheśer liilay
Nácáo sabe vishvadoláy
Tomár dayáy tava mamatáy
Sabái sheśe kúl peye jáy

Nityakále tumi purátan
Alakh vidhu arúp ratan
Ságar tale kálo jale
Lukiye chile rúper meláy

To the land of light at last,
By Your mercy, Darling, am I moving.
With neglect, a watch[nb 2] has passed;
Years have gone, Him I lost from memory.

With beginningless and endless divine play
You make everybody dance to the cosmic sway.
By Your kindness, by Your grace,
The shore, finally all go and receive.

Eternally You're the One ancient,
The unseen moon, the formless gem.
In waters ebon at ocean's deep strata,
You had been hidden with a fest of beauty.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Technically, one prahar equals three hours, what might be a single watch. But in this instance, the term takes on a more figurative sense, an entire lifetime.
