Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Ekt́i kathá shudhu ekt́i kathá
Tomáre shudhái
He bhuvaneshvar nirdvidháte
Kena jiive áno ei dharáte
Shudhu ki klesh dite

Jagate ese jiiv háse káṋde
(Kabhu) Jyotsnámáyáy kabhu ulkápáte
Mishe jáy dhúláy avaliiláy
Nirapekśa ek kat́ákśete

E liilá nit́hur khelá kena karo
(Kabhu) Shoke bhásáo kabhu khushite bharo
Kabhu nikat́e áso kabhu dúre saro
Asheś nirvisheś álo áṋdhárite

A single point, just one matter,
From You I inquire,
Hey the Cosmic Lord, adamantly.
To this same earth why bring the living beings
Just to give them misery?

Having come to the world creatures laugh and weep;
Sometimes neath moonlight, sometimes under comets falling.
Easily, with dust they go and unite...
Below a disinterested glance oblique.

Why play a game, this liila heartless–
At times cast adrift in grief, at times fill with happiness.
Sometimes You come imminent, sometimes far off take Yourself...
Between light and darkness, never discriminating.
