Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi bhúmájyoti ámi khadyotdyuti
Ámár sádhyi kii kai kathá tomár sauṋge
Tumi brahma kamal ámi trńa samal
Ámi ráuṋi kii kare balo tomár rauṋe

Jabe mane áso more bhálabáso
Kadambanikuiṋje mrdu háso
Ámi diinatá bhule bhási bháver jale
Jiivaner upakúle náná rauṋe

Jabe lukiye tháko áṋkhi melo náko
Shata d́eke geleo sáŕá dáo náko
Ámi áṋkhir jale bhási akúle
Ceye dekhi háso tumi girituuṋge

You are the Light of God, I am a glowworm's ray;
As to my capacity, what words do I say in Your company?
You are the Brahma Kamal, I am filthy straw;
Dyed am I; about Your hue what do You speak?

When into mind You come, myself You love;
You smile gently in the kadam arbor.
Forgetting my penury, I drift in a thought-stream,
With diverse colors on an existential beach.

When You remain hidden, don't You open orbs?
Though having called a hundredfold, no reply do You accord.
In jeopardy, without a shore I float on the eyes' tears;
Having looked, I see You laugh atop a mountain peak.
