Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tomáre dekhechi jabe jiivaner utsave
Álor dháráy tumi hásitechile
Kusumita upavane málatiir vitáne
Suśamáy dhiire dhiire bhásitechile

Calacaiṋcala ei dhará májhe esechile
Shiiṋjita núpure krandan shunechile
Táhári rańane mádhurii vikirańe
Acetan jaŕe práń ániyáchile[nb 2]

Diner hisáb nái káler paridhi nái
Tava abhivyaktir anumán náhi pái
Smita sukhásane kalyáń bheve mane
Vicitra eki liilá raciyáchile

When I've noticed You at life's festivity,
Upon a stream of light You were laughing.
In a garden blossoming, neath canopy of malatii,
Slowly-slowly You were floating with exquisite beauty.

Amid this restive world You had appeared;
Like ankle-bells jingling, You had heard weeping.
At only that sound, with dispersion sweet,
You had brought vitality to those foolish and worldly.

I've no count of days, there's no periphery of time;
An estimate of Your complete expression I don't find.
Sweetly smiling on an easy seat, with mind musing about weal,
You'd created a multicolored liila, amazing!

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In the earliest Bangla source and hence in the audio rendition, we find dile instead of chile. However, later Bangla source shows chile, and this change makes sense in multiple respects.
