I received a trayful of flowers, And threaded garland in return. Compared to what I received, I exchanged much less. What I got in hue and form And fragrance was the best. For those who had loved me, This wreath is wet with tears. Drawn by duty I am leaving, But memories stay with me for life. This sweet memory, this undying song, Can it ever be forgot?

Context

According to the notes of P. D. Narayan, Sarkar gave this song in recognition of the services rendered to him by the Ananda Margiis of Ranchi.^[3]
