Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Ámár áṋdhár ghare jválle álo
Balle ámáy bhálabáso
Maner kali phut́e gelo
Smitáloke cidákásho

Ságar páháŕ ákásh páthár
Vandaná kare je tomár
Úrdhva mukhe súrjamukhii
Bale mor korake bháso

Pháguner ei rauṋer dine
Ele phele pá sauṋgopane
Ambudháráy varńacchat́áy
Tanmayatáy tamo násho

You ignited light in my dark home;
Myself You love, it You told.
A mental bud did unfold;
With smiling glow, mind-sky also.

Ocean and mount, welkin and sea,
Your adoration do they sing.
The sunflower, facing upward,
Says: "You rise over my bloom unblown."

On this same color-day of Falgun month,[nb 2]
Feet dropped in stealth, You did come.
Through water-flow in hue's spectrum,
Goal engrossed, You laid waste to nature low.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Presumably, a reference to the celebration of Holi, the spring festival that takes place on Falgun's full-moon day.
