Dhúpe diipe sájáye áshá
Base áchi nishiitha jági

Kata jug ket́e geche nirásháy
Kata tárá khase geche hatásháy
Tabu ámi jege áchi durásháy
Mor vyathá bujhibe ná ki

Áṋdhár nishár par álo je háse
Bádal megher par cáṋd je bháse
Háráno hiyár hási phire je áse
E liilá bujhite ná bákii

আমার এ ভালবাসা তোমারই লাগি
ওগো প্রভু তোমারই লাগি
ধূপে দীপে সাজায়ে আশা
বসে আছি নিশীথ জাগি

কত যুগ কেটে গেছে নিরাশায়
কত তারা খসে গেছে হতাশায়
তবু আমি জেগে আছি দুরাশায়
মোর ব্যথা বুঝিবে না কি

আঁধার নিশার পর আলো যে হাসে
বাদল মেঘের পর চাঁদ যে ভাসে
হারানো হিয়ার হাসি ফিরে যে আসে
এ লীলা বুঝিতে না বাকী

O lord,
my love is for you alone.

In hope, i await you,
decorating my house with incense and lamps,
keeping awake the whole night.

Ages have passed in unfulfilled hopes –
many stars have set, witness to my disappointment,
yet i am still awake,
seeking the unattainable.
Will you not understand my pain?

Light smiles after a dark night;
the moon appears after dark rainclouds.
Can joy also return to a defeated heart?
This divine play of yours
is so hard to fathom.
