O beautiful eyed one,
Fair-eyed maiden, of Whom do you think always?
who are you constantly thinking of?
Toward Whose arrival path are your eyes kept trained?
Who are you looking for on the path
Who is that mind-thief Who, robbing you, has taken,
with a deep longing and fixed eyes?
Taken your heart, so distant having stayed.

Who is that beloved one of yours
There is nothing, nothing that you crave;
who has stolen your heart?
Ever you have wished to give yourself away.
Who is that citacor,
What you have wanted, just that has taken shape;
who took away your heart from a distance?
He has made off with, to some other place.

You never cherished anything;
Today, you go about, singing your story,
you only wanted to offer yourself
So that a piece of remote heart is mixed there.
and that is what happened to you.
The load of yon heart, the soul's fiddle-string,
You got what you desired.
On tears it does float, from sphere to sphere.
You desired to offer your heart and mind
and this is what happened.

He took away your heart to some distant loka,
to some unknown arena.

Today, with a heart full of devotion
sing the love songs of your heart.
In those songs your longing lies embedded.
The tears of your songs will inundate the entire universe
with the flow of devotion.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Kár kathá sadá bhávo sunayaná
Kár patha páne áṋkhi rekhe
Ke se citacor hariyá niyeche
Hrday tomár dúre theke

Kichui tomár cáhivár nái
Nijere viláte ceyecho sadái
Jáhá ceyechile táhái hayeche
Se niye geche se kon loke

Áj geye jáo tomár káhinii
Játe mishe áche oi hiyákháni
O hiyár bhár marmer tár
Áṋkhi jale bháse loke loke

Fair-eyed maiden, of Whom do you think always?
Toward Whose arrival path are your eyes kept trained?
Who is that mind-thief Who, robbing you, has taken,
Taken your heart, so distant having stayed.

There is nothing, nothing that you crave;
Ever you have wished to give yourself away.
What you have wanted, just that has taken shape;
He has made off with, to some other place.

Today, you go about, singing your story,
So that a piece of remote heart is mixed there.
The load of yon heart, the soul's fiddle-string,
On tears it does float, from sphere to sphere.
