Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Kon ajáná desher priya pariveshe
Dekhechi tomáy priyatama
Desh kál nám bhúliyá giyáchi
Mane áche tumi nirupama

Se deshe chilo ná áṋdhár kuhelii
Chilo ná shat́hatá anrter buli
Amrter dhárá baye calechilo
Tava pada dhuye shucitama

Se deshe chilo ná krúratá hiḿsá
Chilo ná asúyá kála jigháḿsá
Aruńa álote nece calechilo
Pragatir druti keká sama

O dearest one,
in which loving environment of unknown origin,
had i seen you?

I have forgotten the place, time and name.
You alone remain in my mind -
O incomparable one!

In that place, there was no dark fog.
There was no crookedness underlying sweetness.
Nectar kept flowing on, washing your feet -
O most pious one!

In that country,
there was neither cruelty nor killing.
There was no untouchability, death and hatred.

There, the scattering light of the rising sun
danced fast like a peacock.
