Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi jakhan ele
Ámár kut́ire
Dhúpe diipe ámi
Sájáini táre

Astácale geche ravi
Háriye geche rauṋin chavi
Áṋdháre misheche sabi
Klánta prahare

Niye ele alok[nb 2] dyuti
Man mátáno chanda giiti
Jharále sonáli priiti
Marme gabhiire

O lord, when you visited my hut,
i did not decorate you
with incense and lamp.
the sun has set,
and the colourful scene is lost.
all merged into darkness at tired period.
you came carrying the illumination of light,
the charming rhythms and songs.
you scattered golden love
in the depth of the core.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ The Bangla source is split on this word. In the earliest publication it appears as álok; however in the later publication, it became alok.[1] The later version seems richer, and so the change is accepted here.
